Child Health Support in Hamilton NZ

Sleep, Behaviour, Gut Health and Regulation

Supporting children, adolescents, and young adults experiencing challenges with sleep, behaviour, digestion, and overall regulation.

This work is guided by the S.E.N.S.E Framework™, a structured, systems-based approach used to understand how different areas of a child’s health interact — including sleep, emotional regulation, gut health, sensory processing, and breathing patterns.

WHO I WORK WITH

I primarily support children who may be experiencing:

  • sleep difficulties or night waking

  • emotional overwhelm or meltdowns

  • behavioural challenges

  • digestive concerns such as constipation or discomfort

  • sensory sensitivities or overload

  • difficulty with regulation, focus, or settling

I also work with adolescents and young adults where these patterns continue, with support adapted to their developmental stage.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR CHILD’S SYMPTOMS

Many families describe a sense that something is “not quite adding up.”

Your child may be:

  • sensitive, easily overwhelmed, or reactive

  • struggling to settle or stay asleep

  • experiencing ongoing digestive issues

  • showing inconsistent behaviour or regulation

Rather than viewing these as isolated issues, they are considered as part of a broader system.

THE S.E.N.S.E FRAMEWORK

All care is guided by the S.E.N.S.E Framework™, which looks at five key systems:

  • Sleep Regulation — sleep quality, night waking, circadian rhythm

  • Emotional Regulation — meltdowns, overwhelm, nervous system load

  • Nutrition & Gut Health — digestion, appetite, gut–brain connection

  • Sensory Environment — sensitivity, overstimulation, daily inputs

  • Energy & Breathing — mouth breathing, snoring, overall energy

This framework allows patterns to be understood in a structured and connected way.

NEURODEVELOPMENT & REGULATION

As part of this approach, neurodevelopmental patterns — including primitive reflexes — are considered within the S.E.N.S.E Framework™.

These patterns can influence:

  • sleep and settling

  • emotional responses

  • coordination and body awareness

  • sensory processing

Understanding how these patterns interact allows for more targeted and developmentally appropriate support.

HOW SUPPORT WORKS

Support is structured and individualised.

Initial consultations explore:

  • sleep patterns

  • digestion and gut health

  • emotional regulation

  • sensory processing

  • breathing patterns

  • developmental considerations

From this, key areas are identified and a clear plan is created.

Follow-up appointments are used to review progress and adjust support over time.

Appointments are offered via a waitlist to ensure each family receives dedicated support.
