Frequently Asked Questions

  • Night waking in children can be influenced by several underlying factors, rather than a single cause.

Sleep regulation is closely connected to the nervous system, digestion, breathing patterns, and overall developmental stage. For example, children who are overtired but wired, experiencing digestive discomfort, or breathing through the mouth during sleep may have more disrupted sleep patterns.

Within the S.E.N.S.E Framework™, sleep is considered alongside emotional regulation, gut health, sensory processing, and breathing, allowing for a more complete understanding of what may be contributing to night waking.

  • Yes — there is a strong connection between gut health and behaviour in children.

The gut and brain are closely linked through the gut–brain axis, meaning digestion can influence mood, emotional regulation, and overall behaviour. Children experiencing constipation, discomfort, or irregular digestion may also show increased irritability, sensitivity, or difficulty regulating emotions.

This is why digestion and gut health are always considered alongside behaviour within the S.E.N.S.E Framework™.

  • Rather than treating sensory issues in isolation, sensory processing is understood as part of a broader system.

Children who are sensitive to noise, light, textures, or environments may also be experiencing underlying nervous system load, developmental patterns, or regulation challenges.

Within the S.E.N.S.E Framework™, sensory processing is assessed alongside sleep, emotional regulation, gut health, and breathing patterns to understand how these areas may be interacting.

  • I work with children across a range of ages, from early childhood through to young adults.

Support is always tailored to the child’s developmental stage, with consideration given to sleep patterns, regulation, sensory processing, and overall function at each age.

  • Yes — I support children, adolescents, and young adults across a range of developmental stages.

While the core approach remains the same, support is always adapted to the individual’s developmental stage. This may include a greater focus on sleep patterns, nervous system regulation, digestion, emotional wellbeing, and capacity as children move into adolescence and early adulthood.

The S.E.N.S.E Framework™ continues to guide this work, allowing patterns across sleep, regulation, gut health, sensory processing, and breathing to be understood in a structured way at any age.

  • Appointments follow a structured process guided by the S.E.N.S.E Framework™.

Initial consultations explore your child’s sleep, behaviour, digestion, sensory patterns, breathing, and overall development. This allows for a comprehensive understanding of how different systems may be interacting.

From there, a tailored support plan is developed, with follow-up appointments used to review progress and adjust support as needed.

  • No referral is required.

Families can self-refer by joining the waitlist via the website.

  • Due to limited clinic availability, appointments are offered through a waitlist system.

Once you join the waitlist, your enquiry is reviewed and you will be contacted when an appointment becomes available.

This approach allows for a more manageable number of clients and ensures each family receives in-depth, structured support.

  • Yes — mother support sessions are offered as separate, dedicated appointments.

These sessions are not combined within child consultations, allowing for a more focused and appropriate level of support for each individual.

  • Mother support sessions are structured, one-to-one appointments focused on supporting nervous system regulation, capacity, and overall wellbeing.

Sessions may include exploring patterns of stress and overwhelm, practical strategies for daily support, and approaches to improve regulation and resilience.

These sessions are supportive in nature and are designed to complement, not replace, medical or psychological care where needed.
